City of Douglass...

The pioneer spirit lives in twentieth century America today. More Americans than ever are on the road in search of a better life. In search of a place where the earths' generous bounty is augmented by the technological achievements of man. A place where nature has been tamed but not broken. A place blending the finest elements of town and country under the shelter of a healthful, moderate climate. The Douglass School District boasts a growing population of 3000+ people who love rural living but still want to be close enough to have the advantages of a large city. Located just 10 miles south of Augusta, Kansas on State Highway 77, and a 25 minute ride to Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, our residents find rural peace and quiet with advantages of the big city at their fingertips.

Douglass provides many excellent educational, cultural and recreational opportunities. Among the available factilities are the library, museum, a swimming pool, tennis courts, running track, softball and baseball complexes, a large park, four churches, and other civic and community oriented clubs and organizations.

The majority of the work force in Douglass commutes to Wichita and is employed by either Boeing, Spirit Aerospace, Raytheon, Cessna, Bombardier or McConnell Air Force Base. The large work force that is consistently required by these companies and others in the Wichita area has contributed to one of the lowest unemployment ratios in the nation.
