Math, Science & Reading

Your child is important to me.  If you have concerns, please let me know.  The agenda book is a good way for us to communicate on a daily basis.  Thank you for signing off the agenda each night and for taking the time to celebrate your child's successes with them as you look at their papers. 

If you have questions about curriculum, please feel free to contact me.

Extended Day is held in my classroom from 3:15 to 4:15 PM (unless there is early dismissal or inclement weather).

Any 4th or 5th grader is welcome to stay for this study time.

November AR Points are due 11/25. 

Ask your student about the book they are reading. Give them the challenge of finding a vocabulary word in their book that is unfamiliar to them, and then discuss it with them.

AR Points will be due every month.  Your child will know the due date and how many points they need to reach their monthly goal.

Pizza Hut Book It coupons will be given out each month from October through March to  each student who has met their personal AR goal for the month.

  Math

We will be using Accelerated Math, Mountain Math, and a textbook for math this year.   At the present time, we are working on division.  We will begin working on decimals soon. 

A Divisibility Rules Test will be given on 11/6.

Science

Students are studying the life science section in their textbooks.  Chapter 3 covers adaptations. A test will be given over Chapter 3 at a later date. 

Students are given a test study guide prior to tests. Please help them study for their tests.

Reading 

Students will have a reading vocabulary journal this year.  We will continually add terms to this folder as the year progresses.  These terms will be important to know for upcoming tests. 

We are comparing various tall tales.  Soon we will begin writing our own tall tales.

In computer lab, we are working on a personal PowerPoint project.
