Four Blocks  

  Guided Reading- We will be working on prefixes, summarizing, and predicting, and fact and opnion.  We have been reading sequence of events, and cause and effect text structure stories.    

Writing Block– We are learning the Shurley sentence, noun, verb, adverb, and adjective  jingles.  Please work on these at home.  They are in your open house packet, and on the back of your newsletters. 

We will be starting our books to be published.  The first type of poem we eill write is the Haiku. 

                           

Math

We are using Accelerated Math. Your child will work at their own individual level and pace. You can easily check your child's day to day progress by looking at their TOPS report everyday.  For more information please see your open house packets. 

We are working on measurement.

We are also doing one and two minute time tests on division this week, and multiplication next week.

 

*Please make sure you are signing your child’s agenda book each night,  You will also want to check their behavior to see how their days are going.

Science  

   The students will be studying animals with backbones and andimals without backbones. 

The children will enjoy science lab with Mrs. Hopkins again this year.  Be sure to ask them what they are doing in lab. 

 

  

    

   

Spelling -. 

 There will be a test on Friday, November 14.  Monday, November 17, we will pretest and start lesson 8.

 

Please check your child's agenda for their spelling lists.  The words they will be tested over will be highlighted.

S.S. 

 We are beginning a new Geo quiz this week over the Northeast Region of the United States.  The students will get a study guide on Monday and take the test on Wednesday.  They will continue to take the same test until we start a new region.  The students will get the best score they receive during the time period of the test.   Once they make a 100% on their State quiz they will be tested over the sates and capitals. 

We will be studying different regions of the United States.  We will be testing over Chapter 3 and beginning Chapter 4.
