I truly enjoyed getting the opportunity to visit with all of you during parent teacher conferences!  Thank you for taking the time to be involved in what your child is doing here at school.  Our kids have a greater chance of success when we all work together!

Book-it  Pizza Hut works in partnership with the schools for a rewarding reading incentive program.  This will run October through March.  Each month your child will be required to do something different to earn their free pizza coupon.  This month students need to read 10 books and write them on the recording sheet.  Please sign or initial each book title.  They also need to choose one of the books to complete the attached book report form.  Remember, these books do not have to be AR books.  They can be books from home.  We just want parents and kids reading together!!!

Language Arts/Reading  This month we will study the author Ezra Jack Keats!  He has written many famous stories including The Snowy Day, A Whistle for Willie, and Peter’s Chair.  You’ll have the opportunity to listen to your child read A Letter to Amy out of our reading books.  Enjoy!

Math  We’ve officially started the money and telling time chapter in math!  This is something that can easily be practiced at home.  Let your child count the change in your pocketbook.  Ask your child to tell you what time it is using digital and analog clocks.  Since this is a life skill used daily, it is vital for them to have a strong grasp on these concepts by the end of second grade.  So please, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

Accelerated Reader  The last day for your child to earn his/her goal is December 23rd.  Since November is cut short with Thanksgiving and other busy activities, please remind your child to be reading at home as well as at school.
