Title I Reading is a regular education class that provides extra help in reading several days a week for a 20 minute period.
Students are identified for the program based on their NWEA test scores, yearly grade average, not meeting the transitions goal, State Reading Assessment (3rd, 4th, 5th grades only), and teacher recommendations.
At this point the Title Reading teacher gives each identified student one or more tests to determine if he/she qualifies for extra help in Title I Reading.
Reading skills, strategies, and problem solving skills are emphasized. The program is correlated with the grade level curriculum and the classroom teacher. Every effort is made to schedule your child so he/she does not miss important subjects in the classroom.
