During the month of November, we focus on how the Pilgrims came over from England and worked with the Native Americans to build a settlement. This unit ends with a Thanksgiving play performed for the parents, followed by a Thanksgiving feast.The students make friendship soup and pie to serve their family to show how thankful we are for each other.
Christmas Around the World
This unit allows students to see customs and traditions of many other countries around the world including Finland, England, Australia, Brazil, and Nigeria.
Penguins
This unit focuses on our polar pals including their habitat, what they eat, and the many different species there are.
Kansas Day
We celebrate the birthday of our great state with a whole week of activities to learn our state mammal, flower, tree, amphibian, and reptile.
Frogs
After reading "Froggy Gets Dressed" by Jonathan London we learn all about frogs, their life cycle, and all the cool things they can do.
Dr. Seuss
We celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a whole month filled with his great and wacky books!
Weather
During this unit we look at all kinds of weather and how they effect us.
Zoo
To prepare for our zoo field trip in May we spend a month investigating the different habitats that we will see in the zoo including Africa, Australia, and the rain forest of South America.
