Mrs. Wright's Kindergarten Handbook

Kindergarten Handbook

Discipline- Kindergarten is an important year where students not only learn important academic skills, but also appropriate behaviors for school. I will be teaching and enforcing these positive behaviors and will expect students to be responsible for their behavior. To help them along I will set some basic rules including:

1. If the teacher is talking, then the student is actively listening and following instructions.

2. Be respectful of everyone and everything so we can have fun learning!

Further behavioral guidelines:

1. Students may stay in the classroom and participate as long as they do not cause a problem.

2. If the student causes a problem they will be asked to fix it with help from the teacher.

If students do not choose to follow the rules, the consequences may include, but are not limited too, time-out, loss of school bucks, loss of privileges, think time in another classroom, and/or a note or phone call to parents. I hope to have your full support in this behavioral model.

Take Home Folders- Everyday a two pocket folder will be sent home with your student. The pocket on the right side is the “right back to school” side and will have information that needs to be reviewed and then returned to school. This is also the place for you to put notes to me, lunch money, book order money, or anything else that needs to be turned in. The left side is the “left at home” side and will have papers that do not need to be returned to school. In the middle of the folder there will be clear sheets that have information that you need to review with your child nightly such as their sight words or monthly goals. This folder MUST come back to school with your student everyday! Please make this part of their routine.

Tuesday Letter- Every Tuesday a newsletter will come home in your student’s red take home folder. This will include what we are doing in our classroom and any reminders that you will need.

Birthdays- Feel free to send special treats with your child on their birthday. Please no messy snacks including cupcakes. These will be eaten at the regular snack time.

Homework- Every Friday homework will be sent in the student’s take home folder. Students will have the entire week to complete the pages before they are due back the following Friday in their take home folder.

Sign –In- Every visitor to the school is required to sign-in at the office before going to the classroom, regardless of the length of the stay.

Please feel free to contact me anytime throughout the year. You can reach me at the school at 747-3500, or through email at kwright@usd396.net, or by sending a note with your child to school.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year!
