The Douglass Boys Basketball Team ended their season with a 72-71 overtime loss to the Augusta Orioles in sub-state play. Despite the loss, it was a successful season for the team as the varsity ended their season with a final record of 10 wins and 11 losses. Four seniors finished their high school careers at DHS. They were Chris Thompson, Ethan Kosjer, Kyle Holthaus, and Brad Buck. The season was highlighted with wins over Belle Plaine, Rose Hill, Garden Plain, and Medicine Lodge.
The junior varsity team also had a nice season with a 5th place finish in the league tournament and an overall record of 9 wins and 12 losses. The freshman team finished 5th in the CPL freshman tournament and ended their season with 8 wins and 9 losses.
At the team banquet the following awards were presented:
Most Improved Player: Chris Jones
Mr. Hustle: Blake Smith
Offensive MVP: Kyle Holthaus
Defensive MVP: Jesse Wallace
Team MVP: Blake Nachbor
Kyle Holthaus was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Canton Galva Invitational and was selected to 1st Team All Central Plains League!! Blake Nachbor and Blake Smith were also honored as Honorable Mention All-League selections.
The team would like to thank Helen Shawver for all of her work preparing meals for the team and Brent Nispel for keeping stats all season. Also, thanks to all the parents and fans for your support this year.
We are looking forward to next season already!!
